Jennifer Murdock, M.D.
Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Specialty: Oculoplastic
Practice Locations: St. Croix, St. Thomas
Dr. Jennifer Murdock is an Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who specializes in aesthetic and functional procedures around the eyes and face. As a plastic surgeon, she blends her passion for both the arts and science. This unique combination began at the University of Miami, where she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Marine Science with a minor in art history, which included a semester studying notable original pieces of artwork in Paris. She then applied her science background to clinic research, studying novel medial, laser, injectable, and surgical techniques within UM’s Department of Cosmetic Medicine.
While completing her medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Murdock also participated in the Department of Community Service (DOCS), which provided free medical screenings to many underprivileged communities in South Florida. She spearheaded an educational project with a professional film director and crew to create a documentary series about the culture, medical needs, and health care gaps within these diverse communities. Dr. Murdock returned to her hometown of Houston to complete a residency in ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine. During residency, Dr. Murdock found her passion for advancing education by teaching medical trainees in both didactic and hands-on clinical and surgical settings. She was then selectively chosen from a highly competitive group of applicants to join the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with fellowship training at Oregon Health and Science University. There, she performed thousands of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the face, eyelids, tear drainage system, and orbits in both adults and children alike.
Dr. Murdock has a particular interest in aesthetic procedures around the eyes, endoscopic brow lifts, cosmetic injections of the face and under the eyes, eyelid and orbital reconstruction, pediatric ophthalmic plastic surgery, and complicated orbital inflammatory disorders, including thyroid eye disease.
She participated in an FDA multi-center study investigating a new treatment for thyroid eye disease and is a sought-out consultant for her expertise in the field. She has published in medical journals and textbooks and has repeatedly been invited to present at ASOPRS scientific meetings, aesthetic conferences, and other international symposia. She is a frequent faculty speaker for cosmetic medicine conferences, and she serves as adjunct faculty for the Larkin Community Hospital Ophthalmology Residency Program.
Dr. Murdock continues her passion for the arts and is an avid supporter of South Florida’s art and fashion culture. She has been recognized as one of the Top 30 Influential Women in Houston 2022, Best in Texas Magazine Excellence in Medicine, Texas Monthly’s Texas Top Doctor: Rising Stars in 2022 and 2023, and Castle Connelly Top Doctors every year since 2022.
