Premium Cataract Surgery

A cataract refers to the clouding of the natural lens of the eye, which normally allows light to pass through and focus on the retina. This cloudiness can cause light to scatter or become blocked, leading to a decrease in visual acuity and difficulty in performing daily tasks.

At Plessen Ophthalmology, our skilled physicians offer no-stitch, micro-incisional cataract surgery that utilizes ultrasound technology to fragment and remove cataracts. Following the removal of the cataract, an appropriate intraocular lens (IOL) is selected and inserted through a small, 2-3mm corneal incision. This outpatient procedure typically takes less than 15 minutes to complete, and patients can return home a few hours after the surgery.

Our range of premium lenses caters to different vision needs, such as improving near, mid-range, and distance vision simultaneously or targeting patients with significant astigmatism. Some examples of the premium lenses we offer include:

  • Toric intraocular lens: Can reduce or eliminate corneal astigmatism and correct cataracts simultaneously. This results in improved distance vision and decreased dependence on glasses or contacts for distance vision, while filtering out harmful UV and blue light.
  • Multifocal intraocular lens: Enhances vision at various distances, allowing patients who previously used to wear corrective lenses to see far away and work on the computer without glasses or contacts.
  • Multifocal Toric intraocular lens: Designed to address both astigmatism and presbyopia, delivering crisp, clear distance vision, and a range of vision for those who want to reduce their dependence on glasses.
