What do you enjoy most about being an eye doctor/surgeon? Many consider their eyesight to be the most important of all the five senses. Eyesight is vital to the way we perceive impressions imparted by the world around us. The fact that so many of my patients trust me with the care of this “gift” is humbling. It is something I remember at every encounter.
If you were not in medicine, what career would you pursue? I’m very interested in biopharma. The process of taking a drug candidate that shows promise in the lab and putting it through the rigors of clinical trial investigations in the hope of bringing it to areas of unmet patient need is fascinating.
Do you have any pets? I grew up with German Shepherds in my house until I left for college. I haven’t had a pet since – though I am thinking about starting with a goldfish for my daughter!
How do you spend your time away from the office? I really enjoy maintaining a regimented physical training schedule. I feel like it’s good to keep the body guessing. There is, of course, nothing better than spending time with my wife and daughter. We especially love trips to Italy or Switzerland.
